Our approach on Shanarri

What each aspect of SHANARRI means within Nurture One

Safe

Provide a safe environment for young people and staffing levels in place to match the needs of young people.

‘’All staff are recruited through safer recruitment and there are individual risk assessments which are reviewed regularly. Safeguarding policies and procedures are in place’’.

Healthy

All young people are registered with local doctors, dentists, opticians etc in the community. We have a close working partnership with CAMHS team.

"Our young people are supported to be involved in preparing and cooking their own meals ensuring they are nutritious"

Achieving

All young people are supported to attend school, college etc to achieve qualifications.

“One young person attended an awards ceremony in London and was presented with a certificate for hard work and making positive changes within her education.”

Nurtured

All young people are supported to maintain close relationships with those that are important to them. Young people are encouraged to invite those that are important to them to visit their homes. All young people’s important milestones are celebrated.

“Recently one of our young people was supported to visit her family back home, this was the first time she was on an aeroplane she was so excited”

Active

All young people are encouraged to be involved in a wide range of activities in the community which interest them such as, swimming, boxing football or attending local youth clubs.

"One young person regularly attended the Gym and another joined a local youth club"

Respected

All young people’s views are regularly sought and incorporated into their individual care plans and meetings regarding their lives. All young people have access to an independent advocate.

“One of our young people asked their advocate for support for his review so his voice was heard and he progressed his access to using his mobile phone safely”
